MARC QUINN

Mirror

July 12 - August 30, 2003

Delta Axis featured the artist Marc Quinn's work for its summer show at Power House in 2003. Quinn is an original member of the YBA (Young British Artists) who emerged to international prominence in the mid 1990s. Quinn is famous for his use of the body-usually his own-and body function to make searingly original and provocative sculpture. This is Marc Quinn's first show in Memphis and the opening reception was at Power House on July 12 from 6 to 8 pm.

Marc Quinn was invited to make an exhibition for Delta Axis's downtown space in Memphis. He was impressed with the raw space of the building and has decided to show new works in an exhibition titled "Mirror". The exhibition touches on the concept of identity, self, and how we mirror ourselves in a shared universe.
